Late Yashwantrao Chavan saheb was the pride of the Marathi community as well as the original leader who shaped the samyukta (United) Maharashtra. He was the first chief minister of samyukta Maharashtra. His visionary leadership carved the path of agricultural and industrial development in Maharashtra, introduced cooperative movement in Maharashtra and through the Panchayat raj system he brought cognizance and support of democracy to the grass root level of the society. He was a successful leader at the national front too, who always guided national politics and ably managed important ministries to bring stability in the nation whenever the ruling government confronted the crisis.

After his death on 25th November,1984 all of his friends, followers and party workers came together to keep his work and teachings alive. They formed Yashwantrao Chavan Centre in Mumbai on 17th September, 1985.

Yashwantrao Chavan Centre is a secular and neutral platform. Chavan Centre insists on brainstorming on the questions which are dear to laymen of Maharashtra and it guides them to participate in active work through those discussions. Nation knows Maharashtra is a land of sturdy & strong people who want their self-esteem to be honoured. Yashwantrao Chavan Centre has been working since the last 30 decades to honour the dreams of Maharashtra’s natives.
